Can only afford veneers on my top teeth
I want to get porcelain veneers, but my dentist wants me to get them on every tooth. I just can’t afford that. Is it completely necessary? Can I just get the top teeth?
Marnita – South Dakota
Marnita,
I’m a little concerned by what you’re saying. Do you mean your dentist wants you to put a veneer on every tooth? Top and bottom? Even your back teeth?
That is a massive over treatment. More than that, it’s unethical. For porcelain veneers, you only need the teeth that are visible. Even then, the bottom teeth are rarely covered.
What you’ll want to do first is to whiten all your teeth. Get them to the level of teeth whitening you want all your teeth, even the veneered ones. After that, you’ll get veneers put on your top ten teeth, at the absolute most.
The teeth whitening on your bottom teeth should be sufficient to that arch of teeth.
I think you need to get a different dentist though. One who is not only a qualified cosmetic dentist, but ethical about treatments.
